Baptist pastor Eddie Mallonee surrendered this morning at the Obion County Jail, on charges associated with a plot to murder his wifeFormer Union City Second Baptist Church pastor Eddie Mallonee surrendered this morning at the Obion County Jail, on charges associated with a plot to murder his wife.

Union City Police Chief Perry Barfield told KYTN News that Mallonee arrived at the jail about 8:00, posted his bond amount of $10,000 and was released.

Mallonee is charged with Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder and Attempt to Commit 1st Degree Murder, after an investigation showed the former pastor conspired with church member Shelly Moran, of Franklin, to poison his wife Cathy during a mission trip to Honduras.

Reports said Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder alone is a Class-A felony that carries a minimum of 15 years in prison upon conviction.

Moran was also charged with Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder and three counts of Attempt to Commit 1st Degree Murder.

Mallonee resigned from his position as pastor at Second Baptist Church in February, amid allegations of an extramarital affair.

Mallonee and Moran are scheduled for arraignment Monday morning at 9:00 in Obion County Circuit Court in Union City.
