SOUTH CAROLINA: Methodist Pastor Arrested During Prostitution Sting

Pastor  Michael Wolfe Michael Wolfe of Advent United Methodist Church was arrested when he solicited an undercover deputy for prostitutionGREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. -- A prostitution ring nets an upstate pastor and 48-other men in the upstate.

Deputies say they arrested Pastor Michael Wolfe of Advent United Methodist Church when he tried to solicit a prostitute.

The prostitute was an undercover deputy.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office says these under cover stings happen several times a year.

Greenville Deputes say they target areas where they get complaints from the community.

Over the weekend Greenville County deputies conducted a prostitution sting.

Female deputies went undercover in the west side and around Augusta Road. Deputies say they were approached by 48 men.

Among those arrested was pastor Michael Wolfe from advent united Methodist church in Simpsonville.

7 on your side asked deputies how successful these sting operations are.

"They tend to be very successful obviously by shear numbers it should tell you it's successful but it does cut down on crime in the area."

Deputies say cracking down on prostitution rings is key to Reducing crime in Greenville county neighborhoods.

We tried to contact the pastor but he and his church had no comment and said to contact his attorney.

Wolfe faces a fine no more than $200 or prison time no more than 30 days.

During an undercover prostitution sting in Greenville County over the weekend, deputies arrested 14 people, including an Upstate pastor.

The prostitution reversal operation took place on Friday and Saturday.  Friday’s sting took place near Interstate 85 and Augusta Road.

The men accused were cited for prostitution or loitering to engage in prostitution.

They included Michael Wolfe, a pastor at Advent Methodist Church off Woodruff Road.

Fourteen arrests were made Friday and 34 on Saturday.
