3 Arrested At Darwin Wright Park

Police who are trying to crack down on lewd behavior in an Anderson park made three arrests on Wednesday.

Anderson police said at about noon, a man, later identified as 80-year-old Harold Martin, of Pendleton, went into the men’s restroom at Darwin Wright Park. An officer, working undercover, said that Martin then tried to solicit a sex act from him in the restroom. Martin was arrested.

At about 3:30 p.m. on the same day, an officer said he watched a burgundy pickup truck circle the parking lot several times and then park near the restroom at the far corner of the park. A white pickup pulled in and parked next to the burgundy truck. The driver of the white truck had a short conversation with the man in the burgundy truck before he got into the truck.

The officer went to investigate, and said through the windshield, he could clearly see a "lewd act occurring." He called in other officers, and they took 54-year-old Timothy Brooks, of Williamston, and 43-year-old James Conley, of Anderson, into custody.

Timothy Brooks is the Minister of Music/Education at Calvary Baptist Church, Williamston, South Carolina.
