PENNSYLVANIA: Priest Accused Of Buying Cocaine

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A priest with the Diocese of Scranton was arrested after allegedly buying cocaine in North Philadelphia.

James Shimsky, 50, was arrested in the 3300 block of N. 5th Street on January 30, reports CBS station KYW-TV in Philadelphia.

According to investigators, narcotics officers observed Shimsky buying drugs and found cocaine in his possession when he was stopped in his Jeep Liberty.

Shimsky is the pastor of the Saint John Vianney Parish on Montdale Road in Scott Township. He is a on leave of absence from the Diocese.

The incident remains under police investigation.
