ILLINOIS: Local pastor arrested on meth charges

LAWRENCEVILLE - A Lawrenceville pastor, his wife and a Bridgeport man were arrested Tuesday for allegedly possessing meth and a stolen vehicle.

At 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, Lawrenceville police arrested Reverend Christian J. Johnson, 34, Lawrenceville, and preliminarily charged him with unlawful possession of meth and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle.

Johnson's wife, Sabrina M. Johnson, 31, Lawrenceville, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle.

Justin C. Ferguson, 20, Bridgeport, was also arrested on two Lawrence County warrants for probation violations, with original charges of mob action and burglary. Ferguson's new charges includ unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of meth, and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle.

All subjects are currently being held at Lawrence County Jail, with bond set at $3,000 for Christian Johnson, $2,500 for Sabrina Johnson, and $1,500 for Ferguson.

Christian Johnson is the pastor of Life Church of the First Born, 1211 Jefferson Street, Lawrenceville. The church opened in 2008 as a teen and youth center.

Lawrenceville Police Chief Mike Mefford was out of town today and unavailable for additional details.
